	Article The Philippine Star Art & Culture July 16, 2007 Rubio and Tresreyes in Singapore Show Dominic Rubio and Edwin Tresreyes have infused the charms of Singapore into their canvases in “Urban Dwellings,” which opens on July 20 at Galerie Joaquin-Singapore. Among those joining the two artists are National Artist Arturo Luz and upcoming artists Jovan Benito. Rubio’s signature colonial figures tower over the townscape and go about their own business. His inhabitants seem to grasp the casual elegance of enjoying and savoring life, and his rich and saturated hues brings glow to the Malay skin. Tresreyes’ canvases are populated with blocks of vibrant colors. The quirky architectural forms and shapes of color leap from the canvas, continuously amusing viewer. The energy of Singapore seems to have rubbed-off on the two artists. Rubio and Tresreyes have found the essence of the city, articulating the desires of every urbanite.
