A Touch of Color
A joint show by Abby Yao and Pro Gelladuga
This show is Galerie Joaquin Singapore’s Thanks Giving show for 2009.
A nine-piece collection by two young artists, who boldly display their fixation with tonality and the figure while retaining their individual visions. The subjects they tackle are not far removed from their own lives: humble street musicians for whom the instrument is an extension of the self, visual artists working with different media, and performers in a timeline highlighting the process of a live stage show.
A touch of color symbolizes love for life and love for art.
Something about the artists:
Since returning from postgraduate studies abroad, Abby Yao has been painting in Antipolo in between freelance writing assignments. Over the past year, she has been working with a palette knife technique that give oil paint a chalk-like appearance for a series she calls the "blackboard experiments".
Dancer and choreographer Pro Gelladuga began painting three years ago when he moved to Hong Kong, where he is still based. Gelladuga's "Pananaw" was a finalist in the LRT ART competition this year. His subjects are his colleagues, fellow performers from different countries. |
