LITTLE RASCALS
Childhood is a time of great adventure and spirited exploits; of carefree fun and memorable friendships, of innocence and pure joy. Artist Rodelio "Toti" Cerda celebrates the cheeky, wonderful escapades of childhood with beautifully rendered scenes that balance playfulness with a nostalgic charm. These works capture a moment in time and are sure to bring back fond memories from our own early years - making us hope for similar joy to await the "little rascals" of the future.
Cerda is a prolific artist who's career has blossomed since he entered the art scene as a painter twelve years ago. Trained as an illustrator to create covers for local paperback novels, Cerda showed one of his watercolour paintings to a gallerist in Manila for the first time in 1997. Since then he has gone on to hold sold-out solo-shows and win numerous awards including Grand Prize at both the GSIS National Painting Competition and the Art Association of the Philippines Annual Art Competition.
This exhibit features Cerda's works in two mediums - watercolour on paper and acrylic on canvas. While watercolour is Cerda's primary medium, he handles acrylic with equal deft, bringing a unique aesthetic to his canvases - owed largely to his skills on paper. |
