SYMPHONY IN RED
Carlo Magno
Opens at Galerie Joaquin Singapore on Friday, September 28, 2007.
Deeply evocative and yet strikingly minimalist, Carlo Magno's pieces are charged with his unique blend of harmonic contrast. Bold colors meet vivid textures to give his mixed-media creations a viceral impact. His zen-like compositions beautifully allude to his interest in Eastern spirituality while his reds and golds celebrate the vitality of Asia.
Today, Carlo Magno is known as a critically-acclaimed abstract artist. For the first twenty-five years of his career, however, his forte lay in realism. His interest in art began in boyhood with early landscape drawings and these figurative skills continue to inform and enhance his current work.
Adding to his impressive resume is his status as one of the few abstract artists whose work has been chosen for inclusion in recent international auctions, in particular at Sotheby’s international auction of Southeast Asian Art.
Magno's pieces have been collected by both individuals and corporate buyers to adorn homes, offices, as well as commercial spaces. His Asian influences give a traditional feel to a highly modern style, allowing his work to flow well in an aray of architectural environments.
The exhibit runs until Sunday October 7, 2007. |
